Jaggy's First Bear by Chris Peplinski
Opening day of training season, we were up at the cabin - just hanging out after lunch. One of the boys spots the bear by the bait barrels down on the driveway. So, we are just watching him for a moment, when Jeff lets our house dog out, just to see what she'll do. Jaggy, a German Jagd Terrier, is down the hill in a flash and under the bear before he knows what is going on. He heads out for the first tree he can get into.
Jaggy's first ever bear run, and she trees him solo. Now, this is bear hunting!!Included are the pictures of Jaggy with the bear on the run, and Jaggy and the bear checking each other out on the tree.

Swamp Creek Bear Hunters
It has been another great training season. We have treed quite a few bear and have had some awesome chases. We have had a blast introducing our 2-year-old son to the love of our lives. As you can see, he quickly learned to tell us where the bear was. He was excitingly pointing to the bear in the tree and telling his puppies to "shut up." Remember to take your kids hunting - THEY ARE THE FUTURE OF OUR SPORT.
Happy Hunting from the Swamp Creek Bear Hunters
MAY THE PEACE OF THE WILDERNESS BE WITH YOU
This is Jeff Ruxs' bear, it was 350#. Treed by dogs from Jeff Reeves, Dan Klessig and Eric Adamovich.

Reeves' Red after the 8 and a half hr. run beat up and tired.

This picture is of Dennis Hardtke and his bear, dogs in picture are, Reeves' Red and back dog is Adamovich's Cricket. This bear dressed out at 486#. It was an 8 and half hr. run, it wouldn't tree. Other dogs on the bear were, Dan Klessig's, and Harry Williams.

Reeves' Red treed on Jeff Ruxs' bear. Red and Eric Adamovichs' dog, Woody, were baying this bear for an hour before we could get the other dogs in on it.

John Trautmiller and daughter Jessica Trautmiller ride the bear out of the woods on the four wheeler. This hunt was definately one that will never be forgotten! The bear was jumped, not by the dogs, but by snoose. He got there right before the dogs did and started off the chase. It showed itself at least 4 times before finally being caught on the ground and shot by Todd Peterson.
